Soljanka - rezept/recipe

  • First time I saw the title SOLJANKA I thought: eey, nice name for a girl, I will put that among my possible baby names for future use, jah :vogel_3: , I know. :rotzunge:

Then I googled "Soljanka" to find out more. And realized it was a Eastern German/Russian gourmet dish !!

SO there goes my idea for a baby name :uglyhammer_2:

But if I ever get twins:

maybe Soljanka and Borscht ?? :gruebel:

SO now I want to know have you ever eaten Soljanka and what did you think of it?

Or does your family or gran have a secret recipe/rezept of Soljanka that you could snatch from the cabinet and share ??

Also, from the lyrics to the song one gets the idea that Soljanka can also be a word used to describe "existential soup"/big mess/or some shit that hits you from above...

I think that's an expression I will take up. My friends will be like :vogel_3:

SO how do you feel about SOljanka? :D

    fix und fertig

  • haha! excellent! i love this thread already!
I think if i remember right the song was called Soljanka because like the soup it is a mixture of loads of random bits of songs they wrote but never finished. and the soup is made of left-overs as well.
before the song i did not know about this soup, well my mum does somtimes just throw everything into a pot and makes soup but we never called it Soljanka.:P
i really like it as a name as well. and i love your idea of using it on a day to day basis! i may join you on that one! ;) the picture of the soup disturbs me a bit as it has oranges in it. :vogel_3:
i like to keep fruit and savoury food seperate. hehe!
